In Illinois, it is mandatory for individuals to obtain a license in nail technology before providing services for a fee.
Manicuring and pedicuring are only the starting point of your journey. You will also acquire knowledge in nail care, the application of various artificial nail systems, as well as fundamental nail art techniques. These skills will assist you in building a clientele that paves the way for a successful career.
As a licensed Nail Technician, you are equipped and ready for a range of career opportunities, including becoming a salon nail technician, manicurist, pedicurist, sculptured nail artist, salon owner or manager, or platform artist nail specialist.
Each student will receive a starter kit tailored to the beauty profession they select, which will include tools, instructional materials, and textbooks.
350 – Course Outline
Nail Care (50 Hours)
This section covers the history of nail care, personal hygiene, professional ethics, sanitation and disinfection, bacteriology, disorders of the nail, OSHA-SDS, chemicals and their uses, and the technical application of chemicals.
Business Practices (30 Hours)
Learners will study Illinois law and nail technician regulations, OSHA standards, and the Workers’ Compensation Act.
Related Concepts (15 Hours)
Topics include cells, metabolism, and body systems, the theory of massage, and people skills.
Practices & Procedures (255 Hours)
This portion focuses on fabric procedures, sculpting procedures and types, cured gel procedures, manicures, pedicures, hand, arm, and foot massage, product knowledge for nails, and basic nail art.
